About me & this blog

My name is Matt Brown. I booted this site up in December 2013 as a way to let off steam, but also wanting to share my mistakes and point people towards stuff that is cool and interesting in sign language research and interpreting practice. I closed the blog in February 2017.

I was an early career BSL/English interpreter, qualifying with an MA from the University of Leeds (2012). I also hold an MSc Language Sciences (Sign Language Studies) studied at DCAL, part of University College London (2015). I spent most of 2009-2016 based in Further and Higher Education with some additional freelance work for Deaf professionals, and 2016-2017 at a secondary school for children with a broad range of special educational needs. This blog reflects my personal opinions, reactions and explorations, and is in no way representative of anyone or anything else.
